A sense of security lies within the deepest depths of trust. As it turns out, your credit union is among the most trusted infrastructures on the planet. According to a recent study conducted by Accenture, when more than 4,000 customers of retail financial institutions were surveyed to determine which type of organization best defended their personal data, a prevailing 86% agreed that their financial institution’s protection standards were superior to all others. The second common response, at a mere 7%, claimed “payment companies” were the exceptional choice. Today, the Credit Union National Association continues to urge Congress to enact legislation that would require merchants to adhere to the same strict data protection standards credit unions and other financial institutions must fulfill.
