Effective immediately, Arsenal Credit Union’s Visa® debit and credit cards now support Apple Pay™, Android Pay™and Samsung Pay™. This means you can finally pay for merchandise with your compatible smartphone and other personal devices at any payment terminal designated with these stickers.
To get started, follow our quick guide below.
Checking device compatibility
Due to the technology required to securely relay payment information from a personal device to a payment terminal, not all devices will be equipped to utilize mobile payments. For instance:
- Apple Pay is limited to the iPhone 6/6S, 6 Plus/6S Plus, and Apple Watch.
- Android Pay will only work with NFC chip-enabled Android devices running KitKat 4.4 or later.
- Samsung Pay will only work with the Galaxy S6/S6 Edge/S6 Edge+, Galaxy S6 active, Galaxy S7/S7 Edge and the Galaxy Note 5.
If you’re not sure your device meets the above criteria, please refer to your smartphone manufacturer’s website.
Setting up Apple / Android / Samsung Pay
Depending on your smartphone make and model, your setup process may vary. Please refer to the following guides below:
Making a payment (at participating merchants)
Once your Arsenal Visa debit and/or credit card has been securely stored on your device, using mobile banking is easy. After your cashier is ready to accept your method of payment, simply hold your device one inch above the payment terminal. Depending on your device’s capability, you will be prompted to authenticate your purchase by inputting your lock screen pass code or digital fingerprint. You will hear an audible sound from your device, accompanied by a vibration signifying the payment was transferred to the terminal.
And that’s it! You just used your new, secure mobile wallet!
So why should you use mobile payments through your phone instead of the magnetic strip or EMV chip in your Arsenal debit/credit cards? We explain in the fact section of our mobile technology article located here.
