Employees at Arsenal Credit Union work hard each day to make sure members receive the best service possible. To recognize this dedication to member service and the company’s mission, Arsenal’s management team dedicated an entire week to thank all employees. The 17th annual ‘Employee Appreciation Week,’ Sept. 25-29, was filled with fun activities, food and gratitude. Arsenal’s HR department planned this year’s events, and employees were very appreciative.
Each day of the week featured a themed dress-down day. Employees dressed as their favorite superheroes, including The Flash and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, on Monday. Tuesday had a patriotic theme, and employees sported fall colors on Wednesday. Thursday was a Cardinals day, while employees wore the attire of their favorite sports teams on Friday. Employees could wear jeans and an Arsenal shirt to work on Saturday.
Dogs accompanied their owners to work throughout the week. “One of the best parts of the week is bringing your dog to work. You get to hang out with your pet all day, and neither of you has to worry about the other,” says Erika Huber, Arnold branch manager.
Employees could schedule 10-minute massages to work out knots in their backs and necks. Throughout the week, employees played bingo on cards featuring images of their co-workers to get to know everyone at the credit union. Winning employees received gift cards for movies and ice cream.
Every day, employees were delivered special treats right to their desks and work areas, including cookies, candy, gum and gift cards. President/CEO Linda Allen brought employees Bionic Apples from local company Merb’s Candies. A sundae bar, with ice cream and toppings from Oberweis, was set up on Thursday. The week ended with a massive potluck lunch featuring pizza and salad from St. Louis Pizza & Wings and pretzels from Pretzel Boy’s.
“With another ‘Employee Appreciation Week’ in the books, we hope employees truly know their value to the credit union and our membership,” says Vice President of Human Resources Lori Crutchley. “Each year, we strive to add innovative ideas to this very special week to honor the contributions of our employees to ACU, our members and the community.”
